Meet Taj Rohr
Over the past few years, Taj Z. Rohr has had the opportunity to serve the Mid-Ohio Valley in the financial services industry and finally made his dream of launching a wealth management firm in his hometown a reality.
A Private Wealth Advisor, Taj is a native of Parkersburg, graduating from Parkersburg High School in 2007 and West Virginia University in 2012 with a background in accounting. In 2013, Mr. Rohr successfully sat for all of his broker licensing and worked with one of the largest banks in West Virginia managing assets for a multi-county region from 2014 to 2017. Life has given Taj experiences that strengthen the value he places on the community he proudly calls home. Taj was raised by his grandmother with a strong Christian upbringing focused on church and community involvement. Through his teen years, Taj was introduced to Southern Gospel music and discovered his passion in music ministry. His ministry, Taj Rohr Ministries, is one way Taj gives back through encouraging and uplifting songs, words, and worship. Taj was honored to study under some of the greatest Southern Gospel artists of our time and even got to work with many top artists while employed with a national record label after college.
Taj’s desire to return home was always present and returning to the Mid-Ohio Valley gave him the wonderful opportunity to build his home on the very property he grew up on, right next to his grandmother. Taj enjoys spending time on the 15-acre property working outside, hosting dinners for family and friends, and playing with his two energetic dogs. You can find Taj most weekends traveling to sing and sharing his music ministry with many around the region.
A little Q&A with Taj….
Why can clients trust you? . . .
I was born and raised in this area. I had a fantastic Christian upbringing by my grandmother as she raised me. I spent a good portion of my youth growing up in the church and was very involved in the community. As I reached teen years, I was introduced to Southern Gospel music through a lady many may remember, Sandy Richards. Through that relationship, I was able to advance my music ministry by sharing at churches locally and throughout the region. After graduating high school, I was fortunate enough to go to WVU and major in accounting. Through that, I never lost sight of the music ministry and upon completion of college I was able to move to Nashville to work for a National Record Label that works with many of the top gospel music artists today (including Gaither Homecoming artists). After some time away, it was always my desire to move back to the Mid-Ohio Valley and make a difference. In 2014, I was able to join then the largest bank in the state and oversee a region for their investments division. In 2017, the ultimate goal came alive as I was able to establish my own firm with a full-circle goal of being able to help so many in our community with their financial goals and wealth management. I have found that people in this area really appreciate the totally independent, fully owned and operated local business relationship.
What is your philosophy on wealth? . . .
My philosophy on wealth is the ability to first master consistency. Through time, those who master consistency and understand the long-term fundamentals are the ones that tend to succeed the most. The roles reverse as wealth builds as the money and compounding earnings through time start to do the work – not the customer. Our firm really focuses on the active management style. Through this style, we are able to manage risk and opportunity in a much more efficient fashion. We are constantly adjusting customer portfolios based on the daily changes in market conditions. Through time this strategy has shown to reduce overall risk and generate stronger returns.
How do you spend your free time? . . .
In 2017, I was blessed to be able to build my home on the property I grew up on. My neighbor, of course, is still my grandmother. I love spending time working on the property (about 15 acres) around the homes. Additionally, I still travel and sing on the weekends. I truly feel this is another way that I am able to give back. The encouraging and uplifting words and ministry that the songs bring to so many who are hurting and struggling in life brings me great joy.
